I've never had to I'm always very careful but somehow I got hit by this. The easiest and safest way to do this is: Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore Select Create a restore point, and Ok it. The reason I suggested this program because it is good at finding things that may not show up on your HJT log. Often there are manufactures updaters installed.
